The DURA-DUTY Mixer just does it with a high pumping efficiency, low horsepower draw and noticeably longer life than any other mixer on the market. The upper seal keeps the lubricant in the bearing chamber. The shaft collar acts as a backup to prevent the shaft and impeller from dropping into the tank under any condition. And the roller bearings are manufactured for high performance, precision tolerance to lock in the concentricity of the shaft and seal. EXTERNAL DURA-DUTY™ Mixer The EXTERNAL DURA-DUTY Mixer is ideally suited for existing digesters with steel or concrete covers. There's no additional load on the cover to worry about and the external mixer provides a simple, reliable, yet economical, solution. Central Davis Sewage Treatment Plant in Utah WesTech's design incorporates a precision tolerance roller bearing that maintains the concentricity of the shaft and seal. A revolutionary seal design provides further protection to the bearing. Central Davis plant in Utah had trouble with failing bronze bushings which increase the fit tolerance of lower seals as they wear. Every 18 months to two years the mixer would have to be removed, rebuilt and returned until the next failure. This was discovered to be a common problem at other plants as well. WesTech listened and replaced one mixer at the Davis plant with WesTech's better design. In eight years, WesTech's retrofit mixer has not required replacement of the bearings or seals. Naturally, Davis replaced their remaining two mixers with WesTech units.
