Activated Carbon Pressure Filters
Carbon filters utilize a pressure vessel with a bed of granular carbon. These filters can be backwashed to remove accumulated solids in turn permitting repetitive use of the carbon. Carbon life will vary in proportion to the amount of organics, dissolved gasses, etc, present in the influent water. Other factors influencing carbon life will be flow rate, water temperature, pH level, and whether operating on continuous or intermittent service. "PACKAGED" DESIGNSWesTech filters are shipped completely assembled except for the carbon media which is shipped separately. Hydrostatic pressure testing, operation, and inspection of each filter prior to shipment ensures quality performance when placed in operation. STANDARD FEATURES Standard - carbon steel housing design for 75 psig working pressure. Tank is coated inside and out with a 10-20 mil sprayed epoxy coating. Optional - ASME code construction (100 psig) with or without stamp; rubber or potable lining inside. The vessel is fitted with lifting lugs for handling and placement. The vessel is provided with one 12 inch by 16 inch, elliptical manway. The 24 inch and 30 inch diameter filters are provided with one 6 inch by 8 inch handhole in the top head only. WATER DISTRIBUTION COLLECTIONThe distributors inside the column are designed to provide uniform and efficient distribution and collection of water during operation of the filter. Distribution- the distributor at the top of the column distributes the incoming water during the service run and collects the outgoing water during backwash. On columns 12" through 36" diameter, the distributor is a PVC elbow with standpipe; on columns 42" diameter and larger, a PVC header is used. Collection- the collector at the bottom of the column collects the outgoing water during the service run and distributes the incoming water during backwash. On columns 12" and 18" in diameter, the distributor is a PVC hub with laterals; on columns 24", 30" and 36" diameter, a stainless steel screen is used; on columns 42" and larger, a PVC header lateral is used. PIPING AND VALVESStandard- all piping and flanges from influent is schedule 80 PVC. All fittings are schedule 40 PVC. Manually operated PVC ball valves are furnished in pipe lines 2" or less. Cast iron butterfly valves we supplied in pipelines 2 1/2"or greater.Pressure gauges are provided in the influent and effluent piping to identify pressure differential across the filter. Optional- complete automatic control backwash systems can be provided. |
